Vikings were not just fearsome warriors but also curious explorers with a thirst for new cultures. They sailed far from their homelands, driven by a relentless desire to discover and understand the world beyond. Despite their reputation for raiding, they traded and interacted with diverse peoples, enriching their own culture and leaving an indelible mark on others. Vikings stand as symbols of curiosity, embracing the unknown and fostering cultural exchange in a time of exploration and adventure.
Heavy metal, with its thunderous beats and roaring guitars, stands for rebellion, freedom, and individuality. For us metalheads, heavy metal is more than just music. It’s a lifestyle, a community where passion and camaraderie thrive, much more than just a music genre. It’s a way of life, embodying the unyielding spirit of those who embrace their true selves with unwavering dedication. It is about the pursuit of authenticity in a world that often demands conformity. Heavy metal is pure love to life.
What could be more obvious than combining the love for Vikings and heavy metal? The child of this love is Vikings Heart, pure epic Viking metal. The songs are about the old sagas of the Vikings and the Norse gods. Some of the stories are based on the myth from the Norse Edda, others are fictitious. Even today, we can learn from the Vikings, who were far more than notorious raiders. The seafarers stood for an unbroken curiosity to explore foreign cultures and to broaden their horizons. Become a viking metalhead!
VIKINGS HEART is a project close to my heart and combines my love of heavy metal and the sagas and legends of the Vikings. I know how a good heavy metal song should sound to my ears, but since I can neither sing nor play an instrument, not only my personal time and energy flow into the production of the songs, but also the help and support of AI programs.
A personal note on this. I studied illustration and work full-time as a writer, so I know first-hand how much AI is changing the creative profession (and many other industries). Like almost all technological innovations, this development brings with it both risks and opportunities, which every artist will probably view differently. Some may see it as competition, but I see it as a positive thing when new technologies allow more people to bring their creative ideas to life in images, texts, videos or songs.
Are the works created with the help of AI soulless and automatically bad? I don’t think so, but in the end everyone has to decide that for themselves.
If you like listening to the finished songs from VIKINGS HEART, like I do, I’m happy. If not, no problem, there’s plenty of other good music to listen to.
With this in mind, be Viking!
